To start with, this unfortunate incident, clearly has a direct bearing on national security. It was not the visit of Narendra Modi, but of the Prime Minister of the nation. One could not have visualised a scenario where the Prime Minister of the Indian nation could have been a "sitting duck" for about twenty "long minutes" and that too near the international border with a country inimical to the Indian nation. Prime minister of the nation was well within the reach of Pakistani army and it's drones, not withstanding the presumed fact that Indian armed forces must have been put on "Highest alert".
Visits of the Prime Minister are governed by highest order of security protocol which is thoroughly rehearsed time over again by the personnel of the Special Protection Group responsible for his close proximity security, specialised personnel of the Intelligence Bureau and the State Police. They all out their heads together to chalk out finer and "foolproof" details. All possible contingencies are also taken in to account and they include possible arial and land routes. Atleast a couple of land routes are planned out to meet any contingency. Al such arial and land routes are out under heavy surveillance. Intelligence apparatuses both of the central and state intelligence are activated to gather all information and intelligence regarding not only the security of the dignitary but also to thwart away possibility of any disturbance by any one, any organisation, any political group; in short by just any one. "Zero tolerance" is the motto.
Now let's come to the Prime Ministerial visit in question. He lands at Bhisiana airport of Bhathinda district. Weather in inclement, so further movement by helicopter is not advisable. Visibility is not as per security norms. Hence as per the drill, he has to undertake the land journy to reach the site of the scheduled function. As per the security drill atleast a couple of land routes were finalised, all kept under police net of security. The dril envisages precautions along the built up area as also the "deep security penetration". Police personnel are to be deployed not only along the chosen routes as also atleast five hundred feet deep penetration along the routes. Added to it all are the mobile security. These planned routes are kept secret. Since the routes were not far from border, I won't be surprised if security classification was given "Top Secret" classification.
Given this background, one wonders how primeministerial program of shelving of chopper journey to the destination and the next preferred mode of road journey and more than that, precise information about the road to be chosen out of a couple, if not more, got not only "leaked out" but also gave "head on time" to a group of farmers to block the road. And surprisingly it comes in the background of the fact that both the central and state intelligence agencies were not only aware of the planned agitation but had successfully negotiated with concerned farmer groups and got their plans "shelved". As per some reports, even the Home Minister Amit Shah and State CM Channi were in touch with each other, on this issue. Whatever subsequently happened, was indeed a serious security breach. A very serious security breach indeed.
Now comes the next lowly and horrid story of politicalisation of this shocking security failure. Instead of seriously analysing this grave security breach, rockets of allegations and counter allegations are flying all over. Perhaps for these politicians across the canvas, this grave security breach was nothing but just another oppertunity of playing a dirty game of mud slinging on each other, to the amusement of the entire world which always grins to itself, tongue in cheeks, to the lowly political standards of otherwise our great country..."
